As I’ve said before, my mom gave me the wise analogy that relationships are similar to three-legged stools - with those legs being emotional, physical, and mental compatibility - and you need all three for the stool to stand.

I believe strongly that 2/3 of it should feel fairly comfortable, and if one ‘leg’ is a bit wonky, you can always work on it. Especially if those 2/3 are emotional/mental.

Upon relaying this to someone who recently rejected me, he said he felt the same way, but he just hasn’t met anyone who fulfilled that 2/3 to start with.

It’s so hard to not take that as an insult. Especially since he has practically begged to be close friends… WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO BE CLOSE FRIENDS WITH SOMEONE WHO YOU DIDN’T CLICK WITH AT SOME LEVEL??!

But, sometimes it just doesn’t work, and it’s not my fault if he doesn’t see what he’s missing. I have a suspicion he’s blinded by trying to find some ‘ideal’ man - and I think he might just not be grounded in reality about that….

There is so much I want to BE with him, too, but that’s beside the point.

Yet, once again, I am settling back into the single life. At some point I’ll write about why it took me this long to get over my first, significant, gay relationship. But for tonight, I’m just glad I’ve begun to calm down again.

Then again, there’s a good chance I’m finally calming down because all the relationship teases out there are finally fucking off. From Davenport to Des Moines - they all act like they might want more, and then they can’t be bothered to put in the effort. Nope - not gonna happen that way, boys. ‘Cause I know I’m worth the effort AND I know I will put in just as much effort - but you gotta show you can do it, too.

Well, maybe if I wasn’t such an aggressive, sassy bitch, maybe the boys would like me more. Lol - nope.

I’m glad this guy had his moment of self-realization, but I highly disagree with most of the article, and find that it does a lot of disservice towards advancing our understanding of gender expression, etc by perpetuating stereotypes.
